Frequently Asked Questions
What happens in the first session?
Your first full session is a chance for us to get to know each other and explore what brings you to counselling. We’ll talk about what you’re hoping for, any concerns you may have, and how we might work together. There’s no pressure to share anything before you’re ready — we go at your pace.
Do you offer a free consultation?
Yes. I offer a free 30-minute introductory call so you can get a feel for me and ask any questions before deciding whether to begin counselling.
How long is each session?
Sessions last 60 minutes.
How much do sessions cost?
- £45 per session
- £240 for six sessions (reduced rate)
- £35 concession (limited availability)
How often will I need to come?
Most clients attend weekly, as this helps build momentum and consistency. However, we can discuss what feels manageable and appropriate for you.
How many sessions will I need?
There’s no set number. Some people come for a short period to work through a specific issue; others choose longer-term therapy for deeper exploration. We review regularly so the work stays aligned with your needs.
Where are the sessions and do you offer online or telephone counselling?
Yes. I offer:
- Face-to-face sessions in Morecambe/Lancaster area
- Online sessions via secure video
- Telephone sessions
- Home-visit sessions for clients who need support brought to them
You’re welcome to choose the format that feels most comfortable.
Are home-visits available to everyone?
Home-visits are available for clients in the local area who may struggle to travel due to health, mobility, or accessibility needs. If you’re unsure whether this applies to you, we can discuss it together.
What issues can counselling help with?
People come to counselling for many reasons, including:
- Anxiety and worry
- Low mood or depression
- Grief and loss
- Relationship challenges
- Addiction
- Stress or burnout
- Identity changes
- Low self-confidence
- Feeling overwhelmed or stuck
You don’t need a specific “reason” to come — feeling that something isn’t right is enough.
What if I’m nervous about starting counselling?
It’s completely normal to feel unsure or anxious about beginning therapy. Many people feel this way. The introductory call can help ease those nerves, and we’ll take things gently from there. You’re not expected to have everything figured out.
Can I stop at any time?
Yes. You’re in control of your counselling. You can pause or end sessions whenever you choose. If you decide to finish, we’ll plan a closing session so you can reflect on your progress and leave the work feeling grounded.
What if I don’t know what to talk about?
That’s more common than you might think. You don’t need to prepare anything. We can start wherever you are, and I’ll support you in exploring what feels important.
How do I book a session?
You can contact me by email or message on the contacts section to arrange your free consultation or book your first session. I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.
